LOWER SHOSHONE – Flows are around 300 cfs and fishing has been really good! There’s still enough water to float and the wade fishing has really picked up with irrigation being turned off. It’s a great time of year to be out fishing the Lower as you can catch fish on dries, nymphs and streamers. Blue winged olives and midges are popping. Dry/droppers as well as nymph rigs and streamers are producing some really nice trout in the last week.
BIG HORN / WIND – Flows are around 680 cfs and fishing has been very consistent. There’s a few heads up on blue winged olives and midges. Nymphing or dry/droppers will produce the most fish but streamers this time of year are always on the menu!
NORTH FORK – Low and clear. May see a few fish pushing up the river out of the reservoir this time of year. Blue winged olives, October caddis, stonefly nymphs, attractor beadhead nymphs and streamers will be your best bet.
SOUTH FORK – Flows have gone up a bit on the lower half of the river now that irrigation has been turned off. The Valley section has been fishing well. Blue winged olives, October caddis, stonefly nymphs, attractor beadhead nymphs and streamers.
CLARK’S FORK – Low and clear all the way to the Montana border. Blue winged olives, October caddis, stonefly nymphs, attractor beadhead nymphs and streamers.
GREYBULL / WOOD – Both are low and clear but have been fishing well.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK – Dry fly fishing with blue winged olives on the Firehole and Madison will be better on cloudy, scuzzy days. Swinging soft hackles and streamers are also great options this time of year.
NEWTON LAKES – East Newton is still fuller than normal but the water level has dropped dramatically and fishing has been pretty good. Midges, scuds, leeches and minnow pattern streamers.
LUCE / HOGAN RESERVOIRS – Luce is very low but fishing well. Midges, scuds, and leeches.
