LOWER SHOSHONE – Flows are around 925 cfs and the river is off color but fishable. Look for heads up on caddis. Fish the edges with a hopper/dropper or streamers or run a nymph rig through the deeper runs.
BIG HORN / WIND – Flows are around 1065 cfs. The moss is annoying getting better. Look for heads up on tricos and pmd’s or nymph or throw a hopper with a perdigon, sow bug, crawdad or worm dropper. Streamers are also picking up a few fish.
NORTH FORK – The river is as clear as it has been all summer, all the way to the reservoir confluence, and the fishing has been pretty good. There’s a mix of the smaller and larger trout still in the system. Hoppers, terrestrials, attractors and smaller beadheads and stoneflies are working.
SOUTH FORK – Clear and fishing well, especially up in the Valley section. The dry fly fishing has been decent on caddis, hoppers and smaller terrestrials and attractors. Beadhead droppers will pick up fish when the trout aren’t rising. Streamer fishing has been good as well.
CLARK’S FORK – The river is low and clear all the way down into Montana. Hopper, terrestrial and attractor dry fly fishing has been good.
GREYBULL / WOOD – Both are clear and fishing well with caddis, small hoppers, ants, beetles and attractors.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK – Dry fly fishing should be fantastic with the cooler temps the park is seeing. Flying ants, hoppers, baetis, drakes and heptagenia in dun and emergers.
NEWTON LAKES – Still fuller than normal but the water level has dropped dramatically. Midges, damsels, callibaetis, caddis, scuds, leeches and terrestrials.
LUCE / HOGAN RESERVOIRS – Midges, damsels, callibaetis, scuds, leeches and terrestrials.
