LOWER SHOSHONE – Flows are around 1150 cfs. Sulphur and Sage Creek are putting in quite a bit of color and the river is pretty brown all the way down to Corbett Bridge and below. Caddis and yellow sally’s are out and the hopper fishing has picked up. Perdigon droppers have been picking up quite a few fish. Streamers have also been productive.
BIG HORN / WIND – Flows are around 1125 cfs. The moss is manageable and the fishing remains good. Caddis and tricos are out. Nymph or throw a hopper with a perdigon, sow bug, crawdad or worm dropper. Streamers are also picking up a few fish.
NORTH FORK – The river is off color all the way upstream of Pahaska, however, some of the tributaries such as Elks Fork and Middle Fork are clear. Caddis and yellow sally’s are out and the hopper fishing has been picking up. Still catching quite a few fish on smaller stonefly nymphs, jig soft hackles and perdigons as well.
SOUTH FORK – Off color all the way down to the reservoir. The dry fly fishing has been good on caddis, yellow sally’s and hoppers. Beadhead droppers will pick up fish when the trout aren’t rising. Streamer fishing has been decent as well.
CLARK’S FORK – The river is off color below Crandall Creek but is clear and fishing well above the confluence. Hopper, terrestrial and attractor dry fly fishing has been good the last few days. Caddis, yellow sally’s and nocturnal stones are popping. Beadhead nymphs and streamers will work better when the sun is high and bright.
GREYBULL / WOOD – The Greybull and is off color but fishable by the forest boundary. The Wood is clearing and is fishable with better clarity above the South Fork confluence. Caddis, yellow sally’s, small hoppers, ants, beetles and attractors are working well.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK – Hoot Owl restrictions are in effect for the entire Park. Fishing is only allowed between sunrise and 2:00 pm. Hoppers, ants, beetles, crickets, caddis and PMD’s as well as Drake Spinners in the NE Corner. Expect PMD’s, caddis, Green and Grey Drakes on the Yellowstone River.
NEWTON LAKES – East Newton is still very full. Midges, damsels, scuds, leeches and terrestrials.
