LOWER SHOSHONE – The river has been off color the last few days, even up in the canyon above Sulphur Creek. Look for trout up on baetis and midges during the heat of the day. Nymph sow bugs, perdigons, baetis and midges. Stripping streamers is also productive.
BIG HORN / WIND – Nymphing has been the most productive method. Sow bugs, Ray Charles, baetis and midges. Streamer fishing hasn’t been on fire but it has been consistent.
NORTH FORK – There’s a few trout that have begun their migration in the system down in the state park. There’s 12-18″ of visibility during the day before the snow melt begins to dirty the river overnight. Nymph the slower, deeper runs with stoneflies like rubber legs, 20 Inchers, Mega Princes, Yuk Bugs and TJ Hookers with a smaller nymph behind it like a Bloody Mary, Copper John, Prince nymph, pheasant tail or egg pattern. Go heavy on your tippet (0x-2x)! Should start to see see more fish in the river everyday from here on out until the closure on the lower river April 1st!
SOUTH FORK – The Valley section has been fishing pretty well with general bead head attractor nymph rigs and streamers.
CLARK’S FORK – Off color down by Edelweiss and the state line. May have some clearer water below the canyon mouth above Paint and Pat O’Hara Creeks.
GREYBULL / WOOD – Should be starting to thaw out.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK – Closed to fishing until Memorial Day weekend 2025!
NEWTON LAKES – Still frozen.
LUCE/HOGAN RESERVOIRS – Still frozen.
