LOWER SHOSHONE – Look for trout sipping on Mother’s Day Caddis and blue winged olives. Nymph sow bugs, perdigons, baetis and midges. Stripping streamers is also productive.
BIG HORN / WIND – Nymphing has been the most productive method but you can also head hunt with blue winged olives. Perdigons, sow bugs, Ray Charles, baetis and midges.
NORTH FORK – The river is now closed below Newton Creek until July 1st! Look for Skwalas and March Browns hatching. Nymph the slower, deeper runs with stoneflies like rubber legs, 20 Inchers, Mega Princes, Yuk Bugs and TJ Hookers with a smaller jigged soft hackle nymph behind it like a Duracell, Optic Nerve, Hustler or Possie bugger. Go heavy on your tippet (0x-2x)!
SOUTH FORK – The upper river above Twin Creek has been fishing well. Skawalas are popping. Toss a size 10-12 stonefly nymph or jigged soft hackle beadhead under a chubby!
CLARK’S FORK – Look for Skwalas and March Browns hatching. Nymph a stonefly or strip streamers.
GREYBULL / WOOD – Open and fishing with stonefly and general beadhead attractor nymphs.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK – Closed to fishing until Memorial Day weekend 2025!
NEWTON LAKES – Toss buggers and leeches on the edges to the cruisers. Chironomids, scuds and balanced leeches under a bobber.
